Thane railway station is historically significant. On 16th April 1853 the first passenger train in India ran between Bori Bunder (Mumbai) and Thane, marking the beginning of a glorious and expansive network of what we know today as the Indian Railways.
Thane is one the busiest Railway stations in Mumbai metropolitan Region (MMR), it caters to long-distance trains as well as suburban network. Thane railway station is located on the central railway line. Every day, the Thane Railway Station serves more than 6.5 lakh people. More than 1000 trains pass through the station every day. The station has 11 platforms in total. This project aims to realize the full potential of Thane station area development with pragmatic planning and development, benefiting the passengers along with commercial development.

The station deck also connects both the existing & proposed SATIS [Multi Modal Hub] at one level, providing integration of different modes of public transport facilitating seamless movement of people.The Existing railway programs and amenities located on the land adjoining the station have been accommodated in the same land parcel as towers, with the additional space for commercial development generating revenue .This 12.9 acers of roof plaza consists of various passenger facilities like waiting areas, refreshment zones ,etc. and spaces for local business thrive.
